Hey Cousins!

I have been thinking about this blog for several days now.  What prompted the thoughts was the amazing visit I had early this month to Idaho.  I had lunch with Debbie and Uncle Gaymore, visited with Aunt Arpha for about an hour, stayed with Aunt Beth and Uncle Keith and LaRae is there helping them, and met Grover.  It was a short visit, but I am so glad I did it!  I strongly believe that my mom and possibly others had a part in my visit.

Then I started thinking about how the only time I see extended family is at funerals.  I recall that Randy (and others?) sponsored a cousins reunion a few years ago, but I was not able to attend.  I have loved "seeing" Pam, Patty, Dana, Debbie, and Ralph on Facebook.  Even though it's not much, I still feel like I have some contact with them.  I especially love seeing family pictures that they post and hearing about what their families are doing.

With those thoughts in mind, and wondering how we can better keep in touch as cousins, I thought about a blog.  What I see happening with it now is to have each cousin write a post about themselves and their families, including pictures.  You can send those posts to me and I will post them on the blog.  Or, I can set up a generic password if you would like to posts those messages yourself.  I would also love to post pictures of our grandparents and great-grandparents.  Aunt Arpha showed me a picture of Grandpa that was hilarious...so out of character to what I have heard about him.  I would love to have a copy of that picture to post so all of you can see it.

I would also like to have email addresses of each cousin.  I will get in touch with some of you and if you could help me out, I would appreciate it.

If any of you have email address of any of Ada's kids, or Lamar's kids, please send those to me.

If you have any other ideas of how we could use this blog, I would really appreciate it!

My email address is meriden@byu.net.

Love,
Meriden

  1. Hi Meriden,
It has been a very long time since I've seen or heard of you and your family-probably 20+ yr. I didn't know that cheryl had passed away. Dad must have missed telling us about it. Please fill me in I felt close to her when we lived in closer proximity. Glad to hear about you and your family. We live (Gaylen, me, Nathan, Garrett) near Wichita KS. Where Gaylen teaches at Wichita State. Jaynann,Ryan and family live in Logan utah, and Bryant is still there going to USU. SPencer and Tasha live in Ridgecrest Ca and he works on the naval base, aerospace engineer. Preston,Ashley and family live near by in Kansas City and we love that. Preston is a consultant and travels a lot. We are hoping to find an opportunity for Nathan to be able to serve a church service mission. I guess that is a short summary of our family. I think a family blog would be great but I imagine some of the family communicates on facebook but I'm not too fond of that mode of communication. THat is probably a incdication of my age my kids have certainly tried to keep me up with the rest of the world and I am a little slow. Well I better go thanks for trying to keep us connected as a family I think we all need that. Oh Maureen and Lee are living in Kansas City too and so we see them sometimes too. love to all susan
